Kream has been all the rage amongst any hip Fayetteville dweller with a sweet tooth. Since its debut in August of 2016 on the corner of Lafayette and West Avenue, “the line has been out the door, especially during the later hours,” claims one of Kream’s artisans.
But what’s inside that is calling all ‘Kreamers’ to this small corner attraction? Doughnut-ice cream-sandwiches.
Kream is known for their ‘Kreamy Buns,’ which consists a special made hole-less donut from Shipley’s, ice cream, and a various crunchy topping. Then once it’s made, they throw it on a panini press to give it a warm finish.
There are several pre-designed combinations to pick from, or you can just design your own with their available options.
Between all of the ‘Kreamy Bun’ choices, the Fred Flintstone, the Grizwald, the Yeezy, and the Ricky Martin are affirmed by Kream’s owner, Cory Tran, as the most liked combinations.
“I am really into pop culture; that was my inspiration behind the names of each item on the menu,” Tran tells us. “It was also responsible for the overall atmosphere of the shop, which is bubble gum pink and bordered in black drip paint.”
Tran’s goal was to bring a trendy food to Fayetteville. So he decided to start with doughnuts and then use everyone’s favorite cereals and cookies for garnishing the ice cream.
Fruity Pebbles, Cookie Crisp, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa puffs, Oreos, and Andes Mints are a few topping choices off the menu. Customers also have the option to add a drizzle to their sandwiches as well, such as Nutella or hot fudge.
All ‘Kreamy Buns’ are served in tightly wrapped wax paper in order to make them to-go friendly. Customers love this because often times they will enjoy their doughnuts right outside the doors where they have space to eat and socialize.
Luckily for those who are not in the area, Tran confesses his plans on expansion. “I hope to eventually open 2-3 more locations including Rogers, Bentonville, and possibly Fort Smith.”
Until then, the Fayetteville location is open Monday-Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-11pm, and on Sunday from 11am-9pm to provide its customers with an ice-cream experience that will raise the bar, and we promise, it will. Especially for $6, this food-price duo cannot be beat.
