Some of the greatest ticketed dinners across the state have been the No Kid Hungry events. They typically bring a strong selection of top chefs from across the state and country together for a dinner to support childhood hunger relief efforts in Arkansas. Tickets to the next event at the Hive in Bentonville on June 12th just went on sale. From previous experience with several of these dinners, get tickets early because they sell out fast. Participating chefs this time include Matt McClure (The Hive),Matt Cooper (The Preacher’s Son), Dominic Luzzo (Fiamma 1873) Annie Pettry (Decca – Louisville), and Luke Wetzel (Oven & Tap).
Big Sexy Food has been a mainstay at the Fayetteville Yacht Club food truck park for the past year. Now they are looking to expand and add a waffle and ice cream truck called Waffle Street Creamery. Chef Brent Hale has rotated waffles through Big Sexy a number of times, and it is one of his specialty items for private catering. He hopes the truck will allow for a widely expanded waffle menu along with quality ice creams. Waffle Street Creamery currently has a kickstarter page up to raise funds and has a potential launch date of July.
Speaking of Yacht Club, they are adding a new truck that sounds amazing. Mo’Boba Churros is looking to open up sometime this month slinging bubble tea, churros, and Loblolly ice cream. It is not open yet, but swing in and at least look at the fantastic art work on the truck to tie you over until opening.
Bentonville is continuing to grow. The Buttered Biscuit is hoping to launch their breakfast oriented restaurant in April. Biscuit themed restaurants are starting to take off in several other cities, including the well known Biscuit Love in Nashville. Having visited a few of these, I think it will go over very well in Bentonville.
Irish spots are typical for St Patrick’s Day, but one unexpected spot is Mockingbird Kitchen in Fayetteville. They are rolling out a special menu for the day. The three course menu will feature Irish Potato Cake, Shepherd’s Pie, and an Ozark Beer Cream Stout chocolate for dessert. It also includes an irish whiskey flight featuring three different quality Irish whiskeys. Call 479-435-6333 for reservations on Friday (March 17th) dinner.
